Crazy About Copper!

EcoChic_828226_PrismaBuffetwithLagosVasesAt Eco Chic we’re crazy about copper!

It’s one of our favourite metals. Colourful, textured and beautiful, in its pure state is incredibly malleable. It’s simply the perfect metal for artisans to work with.

Copper is also very lightweight, corrosion resistant, and weatherproof, so it’s great for all sorts of indoor and outdoor uses.

And like aluminium, this amazing metal is 100% recyclable without any loss of quality. In fact it’s estimated that 80% of the copper ever mined is still in use today.

The beautifully warm tone of copper gives a cosy glow and depth to spaces. It’s a bit of a chameleon and has lots of different colours in its various states; from bright polished orange to burnt dark auburn, brown and blackened and green when it’s used outdoors in the damp.

So whether it’s used as a piece of cookware, decorative plate, pendant or table light or inlaid into a piece of furniture, it will look as at home in a traditional gentleman’s club as it does in a modern warehouse conversion!

PRISMA SIDEBOARD

An absolute showstopper, this buffet is as practical as it is beautiful. The geometric doors are made from hammered copper inlayed into mahogany. It makes a fantastic statement in an entry or as a servery in a dining room.

The warm rustic finish combined with sleek lines lets it mingle with traditional and modern furnishings alike. The Prisma Buffet is part of our Boyd Blue collection, which only uses suppliers who engage in fair trade practices and in most cases they have education programs for the surrounding communities.

Made from Mahogany Veneer, Mahogany Solid Wood, Hammered Copper Doors. Buffet Size: 178w x 51d x 81cm high. AU$4,135

MARCEL PENDANT LIGHT

These divine MaEcoChic_979851_MarcelCopperPendantrcel copper pendant lights are so very warehouse chic and will compliment any space! They look stunning over a dining table or in a group of two or three. With their black oxidised outer finish and shiny interior, they come in a narrow cone shape and wide conical Asian hat shape.

Hammered entirely by hand out of sheet metal, with lots of gorgeous imperfections these lights are handmade by artisans and craftsmen, which provides the dual benefit of creating jobs for people (not machines) and promotes historical and cultural handicraft techniques.

Narrow AU$380 and Wide AU$415.

AVA TABLE LAMPSEcoChic_979852_AvaCopperTableLamp

An elegant lamp with classic proportions, The Ava lamp features a polished copper base in either a bulb or amphora shape and will add gleam and sophistication to any room setting.

This incredibly tactile and pleasing lamp works beautifully when matched as a pair on bedside tables, but can equally hold its own as a feature lamp in a hallway or living room. All lampshades are made in natural fabrics from sustainable fibres like linen.

ECO CHIC’S NEW VERSATILE & VIBRANT OUTDOOR RUGS

GIVE SUSTAINABLE COLOUR TO EVERY OUTDOOR SPACE

The new signature collection of outdoor rugs from Eco Chic will lift and give colour and vibrancy to every outdoor space this summer. These environmentally friendly rugs are the epitome of fresh outdoor décor and perfect for BBQs, parties or just relaxing in your own little summer haven. Not only will you love these hugely pleasing rugs, but you’ll also be the envy of your friends with your sustainably chic way of living!

Eco Chic’s outdoor rugs are fun, practical and good for the planet, which is why they’re some of our favourite store items and our best sellers.

Made from 100% recycled polypropylene plastic bags, these colourful rugs are a rewarding way to reuse, recycle and reduce.  They are plastic in feeling, not like wool rugs, perfect for use in messy areas.

These rugs are woven and therefore reversible with a slightly different look on each side. Robust and versatile, these rugs are equally at home on the deck, at the beach, in the kitchen, the garden or in the rumpus room – best of all, they only need a quick wipe over with a damp cloth and they’re clean! If they’re outdoors, simply turn the hose on them or give them a mop.

The three new designs in store for Summer 2014/15 are:

outdoor_rug_watermelon_life3FENTON

A bright and funky watermelon colour with a geometric motif, the Fenton rug is a versatile two-way winner. One has more watermelon, giving an instant tropical party feel; and the other has more white for more of a fresh and fruity day time vibe!

outdoor_rug_suzani_lifeSUZANI

Suzani fabrics and designs hail from Central Asia where this needlework style is used by many tribes in day-to-day textiles.

Popular design motifs include sun and moon disks, flowers, such as irises, leaves and vines, fruits (especially pomegranates), and occasional fish and birds. Brighten any space with the more yellow of the two sides or get a more subtle and mellow look with the whiter side.

ZAGORAoutdoor_rug_turquoise_life2

The beautifully vibrant turquoise colour and geometric motif of the Zagora rug are very Moroccan in feel. It conjures up images of the sparkling Mediterranean sea; holidays in the sunshine and some Café del Mar! Perfect for decks and sunny terraces or sunrooms.

MELLOW MACRAME: BRING BACK SEVENTIES NATURAL CRAFT STYLE

Your crochet hooks may have been hijacked by your kids for their insatiable loom band cravings, but you can still get that old school crafting look with some of Eco Chic’s Macrame pieces. Macrame bedheads, lampshades, plant holders, pendants and wall hangings are all the rage this year. Now that hippy crafty chic is back and we say all hail macramé, because it’s natural, handcrafted homestyle chic at its laid back, effortless best.

Originally a 13th Century Arabic weavers’ EcoChic_1012953_MacrameWallHangingBedheadword meaning “Fringe” it refers to the decorative fringes that kept the flies out of the eyes of camels and horses. And if you were a child in the seventies you will remember your mum in deep concentration making some macramé plant pot hangers. Every house had one. Beeded, trimmed, fancy or plain, you couldn’t go into a house without knocking into a spider plant in a macramé plant pot holder!

At Eco Chic we just love it when old style gets revamped to create such beauty in a new piece. The following handcrafted macramé pieces have been created by Kay Lonergan, a talented local weaver, and we are so proud to showcase her talents.

MACRAME BEDHEAD
Step away from the usual wooden or fabric bedheads, and try a textural talking point for your home. Handmade (of course) from white cotton yarn, this beautiful and unusual bedhead will stylishly dress up a plain bedhead or can be hung behind a bed to create a bedhead look.
Queen Size: 158cm wide x 110cm high x 4cm deep. $980.

MACRAME PENDANT LIGHTEcoChic_1012952_MacramePendantLight
This amazing pendant light is really something different! As Eco as you can get, it is hand made from off-white cotton cord to form this unusual and eye-catching pendant. Obviously this pendant would look marvellous in a study or library setting, but also ultra cool in a restaurant or commercial application.
Pendant Light Size: 40cm diam x 60cm high. $560

MACRAME WALL HANGING
Wall hangings are very much on trend this year as interesting and beautiful wall art. Made from off-white cotton cord, our Macrame wall hanging is so simple it’s just gorgeous and will look perfect in a beachside airy living room, breezy bedroom or even on a verandah. Overall Size: 71cm wide x 91cm high x 2.5cm deep. $475.
